10 What can I expect from a class?

The emphasis of the Pilates class is on training the abdominal and back muscles, learning to use your breathing properly and making the spine flexible. Your balance and coordination will be challenged, your core strength and stability and your flexibility will increase after a few lessons.

Small balls, foam rollers and weights are regularly used in the mat classes. In the All Level classes, different options for the exercises are offered, so that you can do the exercise at your own level.

11 I am pregnant. Can I still join a mat class or a reformer group class?

During your pregnancy, Pilates is a good method to stay strong, fit and flexible. Until about 16 weeks it is possible to follow the regular group lessons. As your baby, and therefore your belly, grows, there will be more and more exercises in the group classes that no longer feel good and that are no longer helpfull for you. Due to the increasing weight and size of your baby and belly, your lower back and pelvis will become increasingly heavier. Good stabilization is the basis for good posture. This can prevent and alleviate many pregnancy complaints later on. During pregnancy, the leg muscles also deserve extra attention, so that not your back, but your legs can absorb all those extra kilos. From that moment on you can consider switching to the special Pregnancy Pilates Group Class or taking Private Classes

12 What kind of clothes do I wear during class and do I need to bring anything else?

Wear comfortable (sports) clothing during class.

For the mat classes (grip)socks or bare feet are both possible, whatever you prefer.

For safety and hygiene grip socks are obliged for reformer classes.

For group strength classes indoor shoes are highly recommended.

You don’t need to bring anything else. The mats and machines are cleaned after every lesson, so a towel is not necessary, but if you like it you can of course. There is water in the studio, but you can of course bring your own bottle of water.

13 Can I take classes with my OneFit or ClassPass Membership?
